Video Testimonial Software for Coaches

On this page

Quick answer: Video testimonial software for coaches sends each client a link to record a short video. Then it puts the approved clips on your booking and sales pages. Ask near the end of the coaching package. Pick a tool that lets the client choose where you can use the video and remove it. The tool must also show that the client really paid.

Coaching is private work. A client talks about their career, their health habits, their relationships or their business. So a coaching testimonial has a tension: it must be specific to convince a prospect, and it must respect the client's privacy.

This page is for business coaches, life coaches and career coaches who take payment for packages or sessions. It covers timing, questions, client privacy, the US rules on results claims, placement, and four tools. We checked each tool fact on the vendor's own site on 23 October 2026.

Disclosure: Proven Praise publishes this page. We include other tools and say where they are stronger.

Why do coaches need video testimonials?

A prospect cannot see coaching before they buy it. They buy a relationship with a person, often for several months. A video lets the prospect see and hear a past client, which a short quote cannot do.

Coaching also has a trust problem that most services do not have. Anyone can call themselves a coach. A prospect wants to know that real people paid, did the work and found it useful. A testimonial from a named client on video, with proof of payment, answers that question.

Accuracy is also part of coaching ethics. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics asks coaches to make statements that are "true and accurate" about what they offer (standard 5.2). The same code asks for "the strictest level of confidentiality" (standard 2.1). A good testimonial process respects both rules.

Key takeaway: For a coach, a testimonial must be real, specific and given with the client's full consent.

What does a strong coaching testimonial look like?

A strong coaching testimonial describes the situation before, one change the client made, and what the client would tell a friend. It names an action or a decision, not only a feeling. "She is amazing" does not help a prospect decide.

The examples below are illustrative templates, not real clients. Change the words in brackets.

Template: business coach "I ran the agency alone and said yes to every client. After three months with [Coach], I raised my prices and stopped taking projects under [amount]. I now work four days a week." ([Name], [business type])

Template: life coach "I knew I wanted to leave my job, but I kept waiting. [Coach] helped me make a plan with dates. I handed in my notice in month two." ([Name], [first name only is fine])

Template: career coach "I applied to 40 jobs with no reply. We rewrote my story for interviews. I got two offers in six weeks." ([Name], [role])

Each template names an action the client took. The coach did not do the work, and the testimonial does not say so. That is accurate, and it is more believable.

Be careful with income and results claims

Business coaches often get testimonials about revenue. A testimonial such as "I doubled my revenue in 90 days" is a results claim. Under the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR 255.2(b)), an ad with a consumer's results implies that the result is typical. If you cannot prove that, you must clearly disclose the generally expected result. The FTC says that "Results not typical" or "Individual results may vary" does not change this (FTC Endorsement Guides FAQ).

Business coaching is a named target. In October 2021, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sent a Notice of Penalty Offenses to more than 1,100 companies. The recipients included "investment and business coaching" providers. The notice warns against claims that "represented profits are typical."

So prefer testimonials about decisions, actions and how the coaching felt. Use income figures only when you can support them. This is general information, not legal advice.

What should you ask coaching clients on video?

Ask 3 short questions in story order: the situation before, what changed, and what the client would tell a friend. Three questions fit a short video and do not push the client to share more than they want.

  1. What was going on for you when you started coaching? This lets the client choose how much to share. Do not ask about a specific private topic.
  2. What is one thing you do differently now? This gives one concrete change. An action is better than a feeling.
  3. What would you tell a friend who is thinking about working with [Coach]? This gives a natural recommendation in the client's own words.

Add a short note with the questions: "Share only what you are comfortable with. You can use your first name only." For more question sets, see our list of testimonial questions by goal and business type.

When should a coach ask for a testimonial?

Ask near the end of the package, when the client has made a change and still feels the relationship. After the package ends, contact drops and the request gets less attention.

Coaching format Good moment to ask Why
3-month package Around week 10-12 The client has a change to describe
6-month package After a milestone session, then near the end Two moments give two stories
Single session or intensive 1-2 weeks after the session The client had time to act on it
Group program After the last live call The result and the group energy are fresh
Ongoing monthly coaching After 2-3 months The client has a pattern of change

How to tie the request to the Stripe payment

Many coaches take payment through Stripe, directly or through a booking tool. For example, the Calendly help center says that a host can require payment to book. For personal event types, Calendly uses the Stripe account that the host connected.

Proven Praise turns that payment into the trigger:

  1. Connect Stripe with the read-only Proven Praise Stripe App. It reads customers and charges and never gets write access.
  2. Set the wait after payment in minutes, hours or days, up to 60 days. The default is 7 days. For a 3-month package paid up front, set 60 days. The request then goes out in week 9.
  3. Write up to 3 questions. Use the 3 questions above.
  4. After the wait, the client gets one email with a link. One reminder follows 4 days later if the client does not open the link. Then no more emails.
  5. Each client gets one request only, even if they pay monthly.

To send a scheduled request at once, select Send now in the requests table. This helps when a client has a breakthrough before the wait ends. See getting started in the docs.

How do you protect client privacy in a testimonial?

Give the client control over three things: what they say, where you use it, and whether it stays public. A client who knows they can change their mind says yes more often.

Use these steps:

  1. Tell the client that a text testimonial is fine if they do not want to be on camera.
  2. Tell the client that a first name only is fine.
  3. Ask the client to choose where you can use the testimonial: your website, social media or ads.
  4. Approve each testimonial before it goes public, and reject one that shares too much.
  5. Let the client remove the testimonial at any time.

Proven Praise builds these steps into the process. The client chooses the use scope (website, social media or ads), and website permission is necessary to send. The business approves or rejects each testimonial before it goes public. The client can remove it from the verification page, and Proven Praise then deletes the video files and removes it from all walls. See what customers see.

The verification page also protects the client. It shows the payment date, an amount range and "through Stripe". It never shows the client's email, card, exact amount or charge ID. See how verification works.

Where should coaches place video testimonials?

Place clips where the prospect decides to book: the booking page, the sales page for each package, and the discovery call confirmation. Match each clip to the page. A business owner on the business coaching page, a career changer on the career page.

Page Testimonial to use Format
Booking or discovery call page One clip that answers "What is a session like?" Single testimonial card
Package sales page 2-3 clips from clients of that package Single cards near the price
Home page A short clip from your most typical client Single card with the "Verified customer" badge
"Client stories" page All approved testimonials Wall or hosted page
Social media Only clips where the client allowed social use Captioned clip

Proven Praise gives three embeds, each one script tag: a wall (grid or carousel layout), a single testimonial card, and a badge. Each wall also has a hosted wall page. See the embed codes. Read our guide to video testimonials for recording and format tips. If you also sell a course, see our page on student testimonials for course creators.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best video testimonial software for coaches?

The best tool depends on how you take payment and what you need most. If you take payment through Stripe and want proof that each client paid, Proven Praise fits. For unlimited testimonials and imports, Senja fits. For low-cost unlimited video, Famewall fits. For edited, polished video, Vocal Video fits.

How do I ask a coaching client for a testimonial?

Ask near the end of the package, in one short email with 3 questions and one link. Tell the client that text and a first name only are fine. Say where you want to use it. Send one reminder at most. A client who feels in control says yes more often.

What questions should I ask coaching clients for a testimonial?

Ask 3 questions in story order. First: "What was going on for you when you started coaching?" Second: "What is one thing you do differently now?" Third: "What would you tell a friend about working with me?" These questions let the client choose how much to share.

Can I use client income results in business coach testimonials?

Yes, with care. The FTC treats a results testimonial as a claim that the result is typical. If you cannot prove that, you must clearly disclose the generally expected result. A "results may vary" line is not enough. Testimonials about decisions and actions are safer. Ask a lawyer about your own case.

How do I keep a coaching testimonial confidential?

Let the client choose their name format, the topics they share, and where you can use the video. Approve each testimonial before it goes public, and let the client remove it at any time. Do not show payment details. Proven Praise shows only the payment date, an amount range and "through Stripe".

Can I offer a free session for a testimonial?

Yes, if the session does not depend on a positive answer and you disclose it. The FTC rule bans incentives that require a particular sentiment. Proven Praise discloses a thank-you gift in the request and on every public view. Read our guide to incentivized reviews.

Should life coaches use video or written testimonials?

Offer both. Video builds more trust because the prospect sees a real person. But life coaching topics are personal, and some clients will not go on camera. A written testimonial with a first name is better than no testimonial. Proven Praise lets the client record a video or write text instead.

Conclusion

  1. Ask near the end of the package, when the client has a change to describe.
  2. Ask 3 questions: the situation before, what changed, and what they would tell a friend.
  3. Prefer actions and decisions over income claims.
  4. Let the client choose the use, and let them remove it.
  5. Place clips on the booking page and on each package sales page.
